Hundreds of residents gathered to celebrate at the Southern Highlands annual Winter Festival and Tree Lighting event, hosted by the Southern Highlands Community Association on Thursday, Dec. 2, at the Southern Highlands Corporate Center. The festival marks the official start of the holiday season and serves to benefit Operation Warm Heart, a private nonprofit organization that provides financial assistance to local airmen and their families of the Nellis and Creech military community. In the spirit of the season, Southern Highlands residents made donations of toys and funds at the event, raising more than $12,600.

In addition to the ceremonial lighting of the Southern Highlands community tree, the evening’s festivities featured photos with Santa, train rides, local food and beverage trucks, and Christmas caroling by Desert Oasis High School. Other holiday activities included letters to Santa, an outdoor movie, and a vendor village.

“We are so deeply grateful to Garry Goett, Olympia Companies, and Southern Highlands for their generosity and steadfast support of Operation Warm Heart for nearly 15 years. They continue to make a significant impact and uplift the brave members of our community and their families who are currently serving in the military.”
